Piece is worked with 3 strands held together. Similar weight yarn may be substituted. Some close substitutes include Bernat Super Value, Premier Just Yarn Worsted Value, Big Twist Value Pound Plus. A Super Bulky yarn may also be used. Adjust needle size as needed.

3 full skeins of Herrschner’s Worsted 12 ounce PLUS about 1/4 of another skein was used for smallest size 4 (leaving enough to make a matching pair of slippers!)

• US Size 15 (10 mm) circular knitting needle 40 inches long, or 2 needles with long cables
• 2 stitch holders
• 2 locking stitch markers

Project is worked sideways, ie, the CO and BO edges become the sides, and the Rows become the width.

STITCH AND ROW COUNTS ARE ONLY GIVEN FOR CHILD SIZE 4! Adjust CO as needed to reach from approximately the intended recipient’s knee cap, over the shoulder and back down to the back of the knee, or to desired length front to back. Adjust Rows as needed to reach from wrist to wrist across shoulders or to desired width side to side. Hood placement and size would also need to be adjusted appropriately.

This design is VERY stretchy (the Child Size 4 made in the sample photo stretches enough to fit me as a short poncho, although I would personally like a larger hood).

It is encouraged that you measure your intended recipient to find the best size for them. I do provide suggestions derived from various sources on the internet for larger sizes and notes in the pattern instructions where alterations would need to be made if adjusting for a larger size.
