Bel Cloche
Bel is a cloche style hat that is designed to coordinate with my Handspun Pinafore. An equal opportunity knit, this hat is flattering on ladies young and grown and works as nicely with solid yarns as it does with variegated and handspun. The garter stitch band features an optional eyelet rows through which to thread a pretty ribbon or coordinating i-cord. Pattern knits up fast from the top down and is written in 5 sizes (infant - adult). Suitable for adventurous beginners and beyond.
Sizes
Directions are written for Newborn with changes for larger sizes in parentheses as follows: Infant (Toddler, Child, Adult, AdultXL) to fit a head circumference of 15 (17, 19, 21, 23)”
Finished Measurements
Circumference: 13 (15, 17, 19, 21)”
Depth: 6 (7, 8½, 9½, 10½ )”
Materials
Yarn: In worsted to aran weight or 8-10 wpi yarn you will need approximately 95 (110, 130, 155, 180) yards. If you choose a CC for the eyelet band it should be about 10% of your total yardage.
Needles: Needles appropriate for your preferred
method of small circumference circular knitting in US sizes 8 (5mm) & 6 (4mm) or size required to obtain gauge and two sizes smaller. Use two circular needles for the “knitting in the round on two circular needles” method, one 36” or longer circular needle for the magic loop method, or dpns.
Notions: 5 stitch markers, a darning needle for
weaving in ends, and an optional ribbon, cord, or decorative elastic for lacing through eyelets.
