Becoming
It was the first day of the year that it finally, truly felt like summer. A complete change--full of hope. The sunlight radiated cheerily alongside fluffy lavender-edged cumulus clouds and the humid breeze carried with it the perfume of freshly opened lilacs. Reflection. The last year had been hard--gut wrenchingly hard. Stretches of bad luck, unexpected frustrations and fears uncovered. Hidden things had been faced and dealt with, slowly and painfully. And perhaps, no, not all of her was perfect--but she was healing, and she was simply…becoming. On that day, she felt as if the breeze might lift her from the soft grass and wild strawberry plants beneath her feet--full of hope.
