Bear Egg
This charming Bear Egg is full of creative possibilities for decor, gifts, imaginative play, bear lovers, Easter, Valentine’s Day, and so much more.
There are no right or wrong color combinations that can be used for this sweet bear, making it great for using up scrap yarn. Add a decorative bow or leave it without. Embellish with embroidery or leave it without. The sky is the limit with this quick, beginner-friendly project.
Remember that small projects like this also make fun keychains!
PATTERN INFORMATION
- Your PDF purchase includes written instructions and helpful photographs to aid in construction.
- The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology.
- The pattern is formatted to have one featured image at the beginning of the pattern for reference with all other full-sized images at the end for easy, optional printing.
SKILLS NEEDED
- The skill level needed is beginner.
- The techniques you will need to know include single crochet, slip stitch, chain, single crochet increase and decrease, double crochet, and the adjustable (magic) ring.
- Hand embroidery is also used in this project.
MATERIALS NEEDED (more specifics are noted within the pattern)
- yarn in your choice of colors (about 33-40 yds/30-36.5 m of worsted/aran)
- a size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook
- stitch markers
- tapestry needle
- stuffing
- pins
- scissors
- safety eyes
- embroidery floss
- embroidery needle
- chopstick to help stuff
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
- Using hook size E/4 (3.5 mm) and worsted yarn the Bear Egg measures approx. 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall.
- Using hook size 1.50 mm and size 10 crochet thread the Miniature Bear Egg measures approx. 1.25 inches (3 cm) tall. (See the Design Notes for more details.)
