Beaded or Stranded? Which will you knit?

This elegant Christmas stocking features a beaded diamond motif, borrowed from traditional Scandinavian designs, but it works equally well in two-color stranding if you prefer.

Knitting starts at the top where a contrast hem peeks out in a picot edge. The leg features a band of crosses and diamonds. The crosses are repeated again just above the toe. Contrast purl ridges accent the hem, afterthought heel, and star toe.

Beaded Stocking: Sport Weight - MC: 180 yds (165m); CC: 20 yds (18m) approximately.

312 size 6/0 beads or size to fit yarn. Beads are applied with a steel crochet hook size US 12.

Stranded Stocking: Sport Weight - MC: 180 yds (165m); CC: 50 yds (46m)
