Beaded Ballet Slippers
by Erika Knight
From the magazine: British designer Erika Knight has a gift for using the simplest of knit and crochet stitches to design sophisticated, modern garments and home accessories. Simple slippers, knitted or crocheted, have become a signature project for her. Here, she’s worked double crochet in a smooth mercerized cotton and added delicate glass beads to make an irresistible pair of ballet slippers. Flexible soles, cut from a piece of suede, are stitched to the bottom of the slippers for a bit of stability. Use wide ribbons to tie around the ankles as shown here, or use a thinner ribbon for the look of a espadrille.
