Be My Guest - A Hand Towel
Handmade goods around the house really make a space more personal, more cozy and more…homey! This hand towel project will add something extra special to your powder room, and every time you dry your hands you’ll think to yourself “look what I made”.
The Be My Guest Hand Towel is knit with 100% Organic Linen which is a sturdy, plant based fibre, absorbent and classically beautiful. Linen gets softer and more supple the more it used wash and dried, so this hand towel should age well. Our inspiration for this project was the beautiful Turkish or Hammam Towels which come in a myriad of subtly woven patterns. To emulate this beautiful design we looked to the “Mosaic Knitting” technique. Mosaic Knitting is an interesting way of adding colour and texture to your knit-repertoire. Only one colour is worked across a row at a time, other stitches are slipped along the way resulting in unique colour arrangements. This pattern contains written instructions describing the Mosaic Knitting Technique and some useful information about knitting with linen yarns. We suggest reading through the whole pattern before you begin to become acquainted with all the particulars.
The Be My Guest Towel will also make a delightful host gift, if you can bear to part with it.
