These patterns were created to introduce crafters the practical uses of nettle.

Please know this project is made with twine, hand spun in Nepal using natural methods with no chemical processing. The colour and length may vary within and between these balls and contains approx. 200-300m per 100g.

Himalayan nettle is cultivated from the stem of the nettle plant. It requires little water or protection from pests and diseases to grow making it environmentally friendly in comparison to other plant fibres. Created with what may be considered a ‘weed’, nettles are transformed into a gentle, soft, versatile fibre. It is breathable, strong and durable. With use fibres will soften, feeling soft against your skin and allows the soap to lather, making it an ideal fibre for this project.

Hand spun Nettle is available on the web page, in 100g balls or larger skeins.
