This is a pattern for a Basket Stitch Placemat and Coaster, originally published in Knit Today. The main pattern is a simple basket stitch , fine for beginners. There is a contrast garter stitch border. The yarn has now been discontinued. Any yarn knitting to the DK tension can be used. You will need 2 x balls main and 2 x ball contrast to make one placemat and one coaster.
