I’ve been meaning to add my pattern for a basic double crochet beanie/hat for ages. I finally wrote the pattern in 10 sizes from Newborn to Adult X-Large, took photos and voila - here is a great resource for those of you who make a lot of hats.

I use the basic double crochet beanie for so many character hats and special orders. I also used a double crochet beanie as the base for my Pretty Girl Beanie and Pretty Baby Beanie, which people really seem to like. This version is flexible and can be used for almost any hat base, whether you are crocheting a simple one-color beanie, multicolored or striped cap, ear flap hat or sports cap.
