Barley Fields Shawl
Inspired by the Irish landscape in the works of Seamus Heaney and WB Yeats, the Barley Fields Shawl is made in a delicate lace weight yarn and has a beautiful drape. It is a long, shallow shawl, the body of which is worked from side to side, with a bottom panel of individually made flowers and leaves added at the end and designed to be reminiscent of Irish Lace crochet. The flowers and leaves are attached using chains and slip stitches and the joins are fully charted at the end of this pattern.
The pattern sample is made in Dye Candy Silky Singles yarn, 70% merino, 30% silk in shade Gold. 800m per 100g. I used 160g / 1280m. Dye Candy yarn can be found at www.dyecandy.co.uk
The pattern uses three different hook sizes - 3mm, 4mm and 4.5mm.
This pattern is suitable for more experienced crocheters.
