The Banner Mountain Shawl pattern release date is September 15th, 2022

Everything you love about a cozy tweed cabled sweater, but in a shawl! Banner Mountain Shawl takes inspiration from classic knitting styles and combines them with a tweed yarn made of soft wool and flecks of color. Featuring elegant cables and rustic textured stitches, this adventurous knit with a modern twist is one you’ll want to wear atop your favorite mountain.

Materials:
Yarn: two skeins of Arkaik Fibres Fremont Tweed, colorway Epic Problem (85% Superwash British Bluefaced Leicester / 15% Nep; 438 yds/400 meters per 100g skein). Or approximately 850 yards/775 meters multi-plied wool or wool-blend fingering weight yarn.

Needles: US size 3/3.25 mm 40” circular needle recommended, or size needed to obtain gauge. Note: gauge swatches should be blocked for most accurate measurements.

Notions: yarn needle, stitch markers (min. 4 ms, see Pattern Notes), cable needle.

Gauge: 28 sts/36 rows = 4”/10 cm in St. st. on US size 3/3.25 mm knitting needles.

Finished shawl measurements after blocking: approximately 59”/150 cm wingspan along top edge and approximately 26”/65 cm depth along center spine (see schematic).

Pattern Notes:
The shawl is worked down and out from the center of the top edge and features cables and textured stitches. While working the pattern, I recommend placing stitch markers between chart repeats (approx 60+ stitch markers), and use a row counter to keep track. If you happen to have more than 850 yards of yarn and would like to knit a larger shawl, work additional repeats of Rows 165-168 and Chart G before working the Border section. Please note when working the final row of your shawl before the border (modified or not), Charts A-F may end on a different row than the last row of each respective chart.
