This cowl-dana is made using five 20g mini skeins, allowing you to grab scrap yarn or those awesome mini skein bundles from your favorite indie dyer! You can also use one skein of fingering weight held double OR DK weight!
Lots of possibility and with this fun, expanding texture pattern made of tucked stitches and a little bit of short row magic to make the chevron whirl throughout the piece. A quick knit and one that you knit flat before a quick seam and BAM! A fun new kerchief for all seasons/wardrobes!
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Sample shown measures: 24 in/60 cm circumference; 12 in/30 cm along the center of the cowl. Cowl size may vary, depending on individual knitter’s gauge, yarns used, and blocking preferences/techniques.
SUPPLY LIST:
Yarn: 5 mini skeins of fingering weight yarn held doubled. You may also use one skein of fingering weight held double or DK weight. (If using DK weight, you will only need half the yardage)
Sample Used: Hedgehog Fibres Sock – Minis (90% Merino/10% Nylon; 20g/80m (20g/88 yd)) 5 in total.
Total Yardage: 440 yd / 400m of fingering weight held double.
Needles: One set of 32 inch/ 60-80 cm US size 6/4.0 mm circular needles.
Gauge: 5-5.5 sts to the inch using fingering weight held double in garter stitch.
Notions: Stitch Markers, tapestry needle, scissors
Techniques Used: German Short Rows, Tucked (K1 Below) stitches, simple increases and decreases, marling, basic knit and purl stitches, I-Cord Bind off/edges.
