Ballymeade Boot Toppers provide a stylish, simple knit in a stretchy ribbing and cable pattern suitable for beginning cable knitters.

Worked in the round, the pattern includes both written instructions and a cable chart, and features multiple sizes (pattern also includes notes to easily adjust sizing), each of which can be knit from less than one skein of the pattern yarn.

• FINISHED MEASUREMENTS (measurements stated are unstretched and after blocking): 7-10.5” circumference, 7.5” height from cast-on to bind-off; Pattern stitch is stretchy and will fit a large range of leg sizes, shown modeled in size B/ 8”. Choose a size that gives you your desired amount of stretch, usually with about 2-4” of negative ease subtracted from the circumference of the leg

• GAUGE: 28 stitches and 28 rounds = 4” in blocked 2x2 Ribbing Pattern stitch on larger needles

• YARN: Cascade 220 (100% wool; 220 yards/ 201m per 100gr skein); 1 skein

• NEEDLES: Needles for working in the round, in size needed to achieve gauge as stated above, and needles two sizes smaller than those used to achieve gauge as stated above, cable needle; Needle size listed above is only a suggested starting point - it may be necessary to adjust your needle size to achieve gauge

• SKILLS USED: Working in the round, k, p, simple 6 stitch cable

Please note

• Working at a different gauge, or with a different yarn, may result in a variance in size, yardage required and/ or fabric stretch.

• Project’s shown used Jeny’s Stretchy Bind Off, however, any preferred stretchy bind off can be used. Remember that although the bound off edge may have a subtle flare when laid flat, that effect will disappear when the boot topper expands to be pulled on over the leg.
