The pattern includes a plain and a lace shawl. The plain shawl uses the gauge of 13 sts by 17 rows on 4.5mm needles. The lace shawl uses a gauge of 15 sts and 19 rows on 5.5mm needles. The plain shawl has a wider lace border, but I used the narrower border (intended for the lace shawl originally) on my plain shawl.
