Baby Elephant Amigurumi
I can’t resist watching baby elephants in nature documentaries, with their stubby trunks that they’re just learning to use, and their oversized ears. When I designed this pattern I wanted to come up with something realistic, but still quite simple. I also wanted to reduce the amount of sewing, so the legs are worked as you go along. This means that you don’t have to worry about where to position them, and they form a more natural shape with the body.
You will need:
Approx 25g double knitting (dk) weight yarn in grey or blue, or any colour you choose. Worsted weight is a little thicker than DK but can easily be substituted and the pattern will still be in proportion, though you may need to use a little more and go up a hook size.
Stuffing.
1 pair 7.5 mm black safety eyes.
Tapestry needle.
Finished size: approximately 8 cm (3”) tall, 13 cm (5”) long.
