The Baby Ruth candy bar was not named after baseball great Babe Ruth, but Present Grover Cleveland’s daughter Ruth. Another fun baseball legend? The New York Yankees were the first team to put pinstripes on their uniforms in order to make Babe Ruth look slimmer. Pinstripes were first found on baseball uniforms in 1907, and started being worn by the Yankees in 1918, a couple of years before Ruth started playing for them. But those measly facts aren’t keeping me from honoring Babe Ruth in all his pinstriped glory with this baby onesie pattern.
Notes: Start by working toe up baby knee socks, then switch to stranded pinstripes for the remainder of the body. A space is left for the button band, and sts are picked up for the button band at the end. Sleeves are picked up around the armholes and worked in the round. Instructions are given to work the pattern over 3 DPNs. If using magic loop, use stitch markers to separate stitches instead.
