Who wouldn’t want their very own Axolotl? These guys are popoular as pets, but this crocheted one is even better! No food costs or vet bills, and absolutely no maintenance required, plus you can take it with you wherever you go :)

Materials used for this sample:

• Approx. two 50g skeins of bulky yarn in white/undyed
• Scrap of pink for the mouth
• A few yards of eyelash yarn in pink, red or orange for gills
• 10mm safety eyes
• Pipe cleaners (these are optional - not recommended in toys made for small children)

An alternative color form of this salamander is black or gray, so you can choose to make it with dark gray yarn and black gills. That would look pretty cool :)

The finished salamander is about 32 cm long.
