Asylum Hill
These mittens were inspired by a set of hinges on a church door in Asylum Hill in Hartford, Connecticut. I was driving through the neighborhood while visiting my friend Chion Wolf and suddenly called out, “Pull over, pull over! I need to take pictures of those doors!” Luckily, we’re both strange and unflappable women, and she didn’t mind at all. The lovely twists of cast iron were absolutely hypnotizing and clearly needed to be knitwear.
