Aspen Cowlette
This hybrid cowl/shawlette is worked from the top edge down to the bottom hem. It is worked back and forth at the top over a simple eyelet lace pattern. The piece is then joined into a round to work the remaining lace patterning, finishing off with a wide aspen leaf-shaped lace border. The piece requires one skein of fingering-weight yarn (approximately 425 yards) to knit as written.
In the Ogham tradition, the aspen tree is associated with testing and conquering your fears. Aspens are the smallest of the poplar tree family. They need moisture and are often found along river banks with their slim trunks and mottled gray bark providing a contrast to beautiful golden yellow fall foliage. This pattern is another in the Ogham-themed series designed for The Yarn Guys.
Note that the lace motifs are presented in chart form ONLY for the large leaf border. The twining eyelet pattern is presented in written form.
