Aslaug is the first installment in the Nordic Mitten Club, and the only Norwegian Selbu mitten in this collection. It features the striped cuff, black and white design and thumb gusset of a classic Selbu mitten. However, unlike the traditional Selbu mittens in fine yarn, these mittens are knitted quickly in DK weight yarn.

Yarn
Hillesvåg Embla (100% Yorkshire wool, 105 m / 115 yds, 50 g), or any other DK weight non-superwash yarn. See alternatives here.

50 g of 6057 white (main colour)
50 g of 6056 charcoal (contrast colour).

Needles
Gauge-size needles and 0.5 mm below gauge-size needles for working small circumferences in the round.
The sample was made using 4 mm (US 6) and 3.5 mm (US 4) mm needles.

Stitch marker and waste yarn

26 (24) 22 (20) sts = 10 cm / 4” in stranded colourwork
