This one is a bit different from the usual. You can make this as a queen sized blanket, with either the front of the elephant or the back of the elephant on it. You can also make just the elephant (front or back), without the background squares.

There is talk of making a large elephant pillow, by making the front and back of just the elephant, and then joining them together with some padding inside. This pattern does not include instructions on how to do this, as there are many different options. If it were me, I’d probably make more 3-round squares to be the “sides” of the pillow, and use mattress foam, possibly covered in cloth, to stuff it, as you wouldn’t want the stuffing to poke out the holes in your granny squares!
