Artemisia Top
This top is one in a series of pieces with the central interlocking ring pattern. This series is named Artemisia, named after one of the only known female Italian painters, Artemisia Gentileschi created masterpieces in painting and drawing during the Renaissance in Italy. She was named one of the best italian artists after Michelangelo during her time period and was the first female ever to be enrolled in the Art Academy of Florence. Artemisia’s paintings focus on the female experience and are a response and protest against the great gender disparities of her time.
This top is worked in the round from the waist to where the arms split, then it is worked back and forth for front and back and joined at the shoulder seams. The sleeves are then worked in the round working off of the sleeve opening.
This pattern is ideal for an adventurous beginner or intermediate crocheter.
