Art Deco Beaded Wristers
Compliment the Art Deco Beaded Scarf with these fun-loving wristers and add sparkle to any outfit, anytime.
They simply stretch and slide over your hand on top of a sweater or top. Wouldn’t they look cute peeking out from under a jacket sleeve?
The wrist cuffs are knit with beads placed in a graduated order from the bottom up. They are reversible, displaying a different look on each side.
The yarn used in this sample (pink) is Madeline Tosh Sport, which is a smooth strand that hugs the beads.
Many smooth stranded DK weight yarns will work with this pattern. As long as the beads can slide easily along the strand, feel free to try a variety of fibers.
They are knit in the round with four, size 7 double pointed needles.
The pictured pairs of wristers are 5” in circumference x 7” long, which will stretch to fit a women’s Med./Lg. size wrist. They may be knit to a bit more length by continuing the pattern
I used 1098 TOHO seed beads, size 6/0 for the pair. The color is silver lined peridot matte for the green mitts.
The pink ones use TOHO 6/0 rainbow coated crystal beads.
The pattern is written for three woman’s sizes: small, medium/large and extra large.
I always use are TOHO seed beads (size 6/0 in this pattern) and purchase them on line at Bobby Bead in Minneapolis. Wholesale quantities are also available.
Approximately 600 size 6/0 TOHO seed beads for EACH wrister are prestrung using a dental floss threader, before knitting the project.
This is a helpful U-Tube video for stringing beads onto the yarn using a dental floss threader: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtTCeehuSFw
I prefer to use a fleece mat on a flat table surface. Fleece fabric may be purchased at any fabric store and cut a small square to use for beading.
Have fun selecting just the right yarn and bead combination.
My lovely test knitter friends have reported back to me that the pattern is a GO. Thank you so much Susan and Wendy for your kindness.
Thank you for your interest! Please enjoy!
