Arroyo Seco Shardigan
Here is another fabulous shardigan from Terri Ranck, designed for knitting at Intermediate skill level, in one size fits most, finished length approx. 26”. It uses a variety of yarns for maximum interest and impact - the more variety you have in weight, color and texture, the better. You will need at least 634 yards of a blend of coordinating yarns to create this one-of-a-kind topper. This pattern can be a great stash buster!
As a guide to the approximate yarn weights and their spacing in the shardigan as pictured in shades of pink, the following list of yarns is just for starters:
-Yarn A: 1 ball (99 yards) of “fuzzy” 100% nylon – US 7-8 needle,
-Yarn B: 1 ball (140 yards) of smooth 100% mercerized cotton – US 3-4 needle,
-Yarn C: 1 ball (112 yards) of rayon/cotton ribbon – US 8-9 needle,
-Yarn D: 1 ball (97 yards) of super-soft nylon microfibre “eyelash” – US 9-11 needle,
-Yarn E: 1 ball (109 yards) of 100% bamboo (US 6-7 needle),
-Yarn F: 1 ball (77 yards) of shiny nylon ribbon – US 11 needle.
