SKILLS
To knit this bag/ project bag/ clutch you need to
know how to knit and purl, knit in the round, make
increases (knitting front and back on the same stitch),
be familiar with the fair isle or stranded colourwork
technique, perform the long tail cast-on and kitchener
bind-off, as well as seaming stitches. You also need
to have basic sewing skills to sew a fabric lining and
attach it to the bag. Moreover, it is essential to be
able to follow charted instructions, as they are used
for the colourwork detail of the body of the bag and
written instructions are not provided.

CONSTRUCTION
This bag is knit from the top down. First, two flaps
are worked flat for the top closure, then the body
of the bag is knit in the round, shaped with increases
and with a stranded colourwork detail,
and finally the bottom of the bag is knit flat again
in two flaps, which are joined at the centre with
the kitchener method, and the sides are seamed
to the base at the end. Finally, the two top flaps are
sewn forming a casing for the bag closure.

GAUGE
24 stitches and 32 rows in 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in stockinette
stitch, without blocking.

YARN
1 ball of Felted Tweed by Rowan in Colour 1 (main
colour) and leftover bits of 3 different balls of Felted
Tweed by Rowan in Colours 2, 3 and 4 (50% Wool,
25% Alpaca, 25% Viscose; 50 g / 175 m; 1.76 oz /
191 yd).
The colourways used are the Stone 190 as Colour
1, the French Mustard 216 as Colour 2, the Pink Bliss
199 as Colour 3 and the Ginger 154 as Colour 4 for
the light version, and the Carbon 159 as Colour 1, the
Pink Bliss 199 as Colour 2, the Clay 177 as Colour 3
and the French Mustard 216 as Colour 4 for the dark
version.

NEEDLES
3.5 mm US 4 circular needles with a cable length of 40
cm 16”, or the required needle size to obtain gauge for
the colourwork section, and 3.25 mm US 3 needles for
the plain stockinette section.

OTHER NOTIONS
1 stitch marker for the beginning of the round. Tapestry
needle to weave in ends.
1 flex frame closure, 30 cm 11.75”.
Fabric for lining (cotton poplin is recommended), 36 x
54 cm 14.25 x 21.25”. Needle and matching thread.

NOCIONES PREVIAS
Para tejer este bolso/ bolsa de labores/ clutch es necesario
saber tejer punto del derecho, del revés, tejer en
circular, realizar aumentos tejiendo puntos por delante
y por detrás, conocer la técnica del fair isle o colourwork
y leer gráficos, el montaje de hebra larga y el cierre con
el método kitchener y coser puntos, así como tener nociones
de costura con el fin de coser un forro interior.
Es imprescindible saber leer gráficos, ya que las instrucciones
para tejer el cuerpo del bolso con el detalle en
colourwork se dan únicamente en forma de gráfico.

CONSTRUCCIÓN
Este bolso se teje de arriba a abajo. Primero se tejen
en plano las dos solapas que configuran el cierre superior,
luego el cuerpo que se teje en circular (se le da
forma con aumentos y lleva un detalle de colourwork)
hasta la base del bolso que también se teje en plano,
se cierra con el método kitchener y se cosen los laterales
de la base. Finalmente, cosen las solapas superiores
formando un dobladillo en el que se inserta el
cierre de fleje.

MUESTRA
24 puntos y 32 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10
cm 4 x 4” en punto jersey, sin bloquear.

HILO
1 ovillo de Felted Tweed de Rowan en color 1 (principal)
y restos de 3 ovillos de Felted Tweed de Rowan
para cada uno de los 3 colores de contraste (colores 2,
3 y 4) (50% lana, 25% alpaca, 25% viscosa; 50 g / 175 m;
1.76 oz / 191 yd).
Los colores utilizados son el piedra 190 como color
1, el verde lima 216 como color 2, el rosa fucsia 199
como color 3 y el caldera 154 como color 4 en la versión
clara, y el azul marino 159 como color 1, el rosa
fucsia 199 como color 2, el blanco 177 como color 3
y el verde lima 216 como color 4 en la versión oscura.

AGUJAS
Agujas circulares de 3.5 mm US 4 y cable de 40 cm
16” o las necesarias para obtener la muestra de tensión
(sin bloquear) para la parte de colourwork y agujas
de 3.25 mm US 3 para la parte lisa.

OTROS ACCESORIOS
1 marcador para el inicio de vuelta, aguja lanera para
rematar las hebras.
1 cierre de fleje de 30 cm 11.75”.
Tela para forrar el bolso de unas dimensiones de 36 x
54 cm 14.25 x 21.25”, se recomienda popelín. Aguja
e hilo al tono.
