Inspired by the flow and curves of gothic arches and vaults, Arcos is a tall summer cowl knitted in a soft cotton yarn.
The cowl starts with a repetition of stacked arches almost to the midpoint. Then the patterning slowly develops into a diamond and leaves pattern and ends with a scalloped edge, matching its beginning. Arcos uses a limited amount of easy to remember lace pattern
stitches as building blocks. Stacking these stitches in various ways creates a different patterning on the cowl, making it fun to see how the stitches flow into one another.
Wear the lacy Arcos cowl on an evening out or casually with a pair of jeans.

Yarn:
Phildar Phil Coton 3 (Sport; 100% Cotton; 121 meters / 132 yards per 50 grams); sample shown in Colour 0061 Clematite; 3 balls.

Needles:
3.75 mm (US size 5) 80 cm / 32 inches circular needle or size to obtain gauge.
4.5 mm (US size 7) 80 cm / 32 inches circular needle for BO (when going up or down in size with the smaller needles to match gauge, adjust the size of the BO needle accordingly: add around 1 mm to the chosen needle size and convert to US sizes if necessary).

Gauge:
21 stitches and 26 rows = 10 cm / 4 inches in stockinette stitch, unblocked.
18 stitches and 26 rows = 10 cm / 4 inches in stitch pattern A, blocked.
Note: obtaining the gauge given is not crucial but will affect the finished size and the yardage needed.

Notions:
Stitch markers: 1 in colour A (beginning of round marker) and 17 in colour B. Tapestry needle. Blocking pins.

Size:
One; easily customizable.

Final Measurements:
Circumference (c) 100 cm / 39.25 inches, height (h) 38 cm / 15 inches, see schematic.

Skill level:
Basic stitches, increases, decreases and double decreases. Repetitive, easy to memorize stitch patterns. Lace BO (instructions given). Video tutorials are provided for the stitches and techniques used.
