Arca Cowl
Love colorwork? The Arca Cowl is a fun, modern way to explore it! Using linen stitch as a base and switching colors every two rounds, this design creates a beautifully structured pattern that shines in both solid and variegated yarns.
The pattern includes two variations: a two-color cowl with a clean, chain-like edging and a three-color version featuring ribbed edgings for added structure. These finishing options ensure efficient yarn use, leaving minimal leftovers. If you prefer ribbing on the two-color cowl, additional instructions are included.
MATERIALS
- Yarn: Malabrigo Rios; worsted weight; 210 yd (192 m) per 100 g skein; 100% merino wool
- Hook: U.S. H/8 (5 mm)
- Yarn needle to weave in ends
YARDAGE
- Two-color option: 1 skein each in Yerba and Playa
- Three-color option: 1 skein each in Fog, Camel, and Cielo y Tierra
GAUGE
18 sts (sc and chs) and 21 rows = 4” (10 cm) after blocking, worked in colorwork st patt. Exact gauge is not crucial for this pattern.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
- Two-color option: 26’’ (66 cm) in circumference, 12’’ (30.5 cm) tall
- Three-color option: 35’’ (89 cm) in circumference, 11½’’ (29 cm) tall
You can easily adjust the size and make your cowl longer by working more colorwork row PRs and wider by working more st PRs.
