Vertical, repeating motifs are the epitome of Art Deco, the style I think of as the universal marker of urban architecture in the United States. The body of this sweater is filled with simple patterning, while each sleeve holds one strip of lacework down its center. The finished piece is warm, lightweight, and timeless.

Knitting Knowledge
The body of this project is worked flat, and the sleeves are worked in the round to the armhole. It requires:

• Knitting with circular and double-pointed needles
• Casting on and binding off
• Reading lace charts
