This motif magically turns the centre of a well-known hexagon into a square, and looks symmetrical as long as you follow the instructions carefully. It is a simple but decorative component part of blankets, bags etc. and can be made in subtle or dazzling colour combinations - you can design your own palette and throw caution to the winds!

The squares shown were made in DK acrylic yarn using a 4mm hook, but can of course be any size and thickness using the appropriate hook. If only a few are required it is a good way of using up leftover scraps of yarn!
