Apfel
Apfel cardigan is worked from bottom to top, back and forth on circular needles.
First stitches are casted on with Italian cast on using scrap yarn, then stitches are worked in ribbing.
Afterwards, an eyelet pattern is worked according to the chart until the armhole, where the body is divided into front pieces and the back, each worked separately.
The shoulders are knit together, while also binding stitches off.
Stitches are picked up for the armhole and the sleeves are worked in the round from top to bottom with short rows to shape the sleeve cap.
To finish, stitches are picked up along the front pieces and neck opening, and the front edges are worked in double knitting.
In 2024, we lost a living legend in the world of fashion; 102-year-old Iris Apfel. With her signature large glasses, lavish jewellery, and colourful clothing choices, she was famous for breaking all conventional fashion rules. Iris Apfel was not only a flamboyant fashion icon, but also a source of inspiration for those who want to express themselves without fear of breaking norms. Her legendary approach to combining patterns, textures and colours created an expression as original as herself.
Iris Apfel was more than just a fashionista; she was a symbol of authenticity, individuality, and elegance, and this is the expression that the Apfel cardigan pays tribute to.
