Any Gauge Tube Cowl
This is a super simple tubular or inifinity cowl pattern to accompany the first (of hopefully many) Knit With Me Series that I will be creating for my Youtube Channel (Knitting Expat Podcast).
PAY WHAT WORKS
I have created TWO coupon codes so you can either purchase the pattern for full price, or for 50% or for FREE. These codes will always be active. I wanted to give this pattern to you with a range of pricing options as I know not everyone can afford patterns at full cost. If you would like to support my channel and the work I am doing, and you have the means to do so then paying for this pattern is a great way to do that, if not then it is of course available for free with the code and I am just so excited to see your versions of this pattern!
50% off code - PWW50
FREE code - PWW100
If you know how to do the Knit stitch then that is all you will need to work this cowl! There is no purling involved at all! I would say this is a very beginner friendly pattern for someone who has maybe knit 1 or 2 projects and is looking to expand their knitting skills.
Skills you will learn from this pattern & video series are:
- How to work a provisional cast on
- Joining to work in the round
- Attaching a new ball of yarn
- Picking up provisional stitches
- Grafting/Kitchenering your stitches together
- Blocking
What you will need:
Yarn – Approx 200-300gm of Worsted/Aran weight yarn (The sample used handspun but you can use any yarn you like – there are notes at the end of the pattern on how to make adjustments for other weights of yarn)
Needles – 4.5mm (US7) 24” circular for knitting in the round.
Gauge – Approximately 17 sts / 4 inch in stockinette after blocking.
Size – The cowl is 26in (66cm) in circumference and is 17in (43cm) in depth.
Notions
- 1 Stitch Marker for marking the beginning of the round
- Scrap yarn for provisional cast on
- Crochet hook in similar size as your knitting needle for provisional cast on
- A spare set of circular needles in a similar size as the main needles for picking up the provisional cast on
- A tapestry needle for weaving in ends and grafting.
Video tutorials:
I have created a Knit With Me Series around this pattern which I have broken down into 3 parts.
- Part 1 – This goes over the Provisional Cast On, and setup to get working in the round.
- Part 2 – in this video I share my progress on the cowl and how I added in my second ball of yarn.
- Part 3 – in this video I shared the finishing steps of the cowl and the two ways you can kitchener the cowl closed to get either an Infinity Loop or a Reversable Cowl
I have included links here but if you are having trouble getting them to work then you can view the vides on my youtube channel – Knitting Expat Podcast and they are in the Knit With Me Series Playlist.
