Inspired by the rugged seaside of Northern Ireland, Antrim is worked in a unique stitch pattern reminiscent of the textures found in the rocky countryside where the muted colors of granite compete with the yellow-greens of lichen and moss.

This design makes the most of the interestingly textured stitches by combining them with asymmetric bands of richly colored silk and merino yarn. Although it may look much more complicated, the reversible pattern is created with simple increases and decreases along with basic knits and purls.

The size of the cowl is easy to customize thanks to the small pattern repeat, so it can be made to fit anyone, from a small child to a large adult. The cowl knits up quickly and is appropriate for men and women, which makes Antrim a great last-minute gift project.
