Antheraea
What to do with beautifully hand painted yarn? The dye work is stunning but obscures most texture patterns, leaving you with an unsatisfying mess that shows off neither the yarn nor your knitting. Antheraea is the answer! Simple mitered shaping and short rows add design interest while leaving the yarn and dye work to shine
through magnificently.
Antheraea is knit in seven graduated miter sections that gradually decrease to create an interesting half circle shape that stays draped around the shoulders effortlessly.
The middle sized version of Antheraea is designed to work with solid, semi-solid and variegated yarns and uses approximately 550 yards of yarn. The small and large versions use one or two balls of Freia Handpaints Merino Fingering Shawl Ball.
When purchasing this pattern you will receive two downloads, one for the medium sized version and one that is specific to Freia Ombre yarns.
The small Ombre version requires 420 yards, the medium is 550 yards and the large (shown in two balls of Ombre) uses 840 yards.
