What baby does not want to sleep with animals? Here Cat, Sheep and Bear lay down to sleep covered in a warm and cabled blanket. The edges are worked along with the blanket so there is no seaming of the blanket itself. The cables are nestled on a background of seed stitch to provide texture and interest. The animal heads are worked in seed stitch, while the sheep’s ‘wool“ on top of it’s head is worked with bobbles for 3-D fun.

The blanket is worked using 5 skeins (1000 yds) of the main color, and 1 skein of the contrast color. The bottom of the blanket is worked then bound off. Stitches are then picked up several rows down and the “pillow” portion is worked. Each head uses about 50 yds of yarn, and can be any color you choose - but of course, I had to include a black sheep.

The pattern is written for one size, 28” x 36”, but can easily be made smaller by reducing the number of seed stitches between the cables, or larger by increasing the seed stitches. Vary the number of animals or the types you include to personalize it for you loved one.
