This batwing-shape design is worked from the neck down and grows longer and wider with each row, so the main body of the design can be made in any length desired before beginning the six-row border lace pattern.

Although this is designed for lace-weight yarn, it can be made in any yarn weight with appropriate hook size. For the shawl shown, the upper portion used one complete 50 gm/440 yd. hank lace-weight yarn, while the contrasting color portion along the edge used a little over half a skein of the same yarn. This shawl is also wonderful in one color.
