Anenome Spotted
This shawl is a fun knit to better explore texture and alternative stitch patterns. I took advantage of two exclusive colorways from Forbidden Woolery’s Babel base named “Red Fish” and “Blue Fish”, inspired by the book by Dr. Seuss, and I created a sea-creature inspired design that comes out of the deep and grabs everyone’s attention. Lace eyelets, texture, other design elements take over as you knit this in a fingering or sport weight version, all finished with a picot bind off for a fun and flashy edge.
MATERIALS:
Fingering weight:
Forbidden Woolery – Babel (70% Superwash merino wool, 20% yak, 10% nylon. 435 yards.)
• Color A: Red Fish. 380 yards.
• Color B: Blue Fish: 300 yards.
US 5 47” circ needle
Two stitch markers
Tapestry Needle

(Gauge not critical for this project)

Sport Weight:
Madelinetosh – Pashmina (75% Superwash Merino, 15% Silk, 10% Cashmere. 360 yards.)
• Color A: Whiskers. 325 yards
• Color B: Jimmy Beans Wool exclusive – March ’16: Aries. 290 yards.
US 6 47” circ needle

Tapestry Needle
GAUGE AND MEASUREMENTS:

(Gauge not critical for this project)
Wingspan: About 60”

PATTERN NOTES: Read the pattern and its individual sections before casting on to familiarize yourself with the stitches used each time. The main difference between the sport and fingering weight version is that the sport weight version will have 40 less stitches throughout after Section One when completed. Gauge is not critical if you are using the yarns above, or similar yarns with equal or greater yardage, but I do recommend making a swatch for the stitch pattern in Section One to familiarize yourself with the technique.
