Amortentia Hat
This pattern was designed exclusively for the Oh Loops Harry Potter KAL 2017 and the pattern is exclusive to those who purchased the Prefect Kits until the end of the KAL.
This pattern will be available for purchase from January 2018 once the Harry Potter KAL by Oh Loops has ended.
What you will need:
• Yarn – 100g Fingering weight yarn (approx. 425m/463 yds) held double or 100g Worsted weight Yarn (approx. 200m/220 yds); Yarn used in sample is Oh Loops Yarn in the Perfection Knot base (75/25 Superwash Merino / Nylon) in the Star Crossed Lovers Colourway - this is a fingering weight yarn and the yarn was held double throughout..
• Needles – 4mm (US6) 16” circular for knitting in the round or a longer cable for magic loop, and double pointed needles (DPNs) or magic loop for crown; Second circular needle 4mm or smaller for working the brim (see notes below)
• Notions
- 1 Stitch Marker for marking the beginning of the round and additional markers for marking the pattern repeats & crown decreases.
- A tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
- Cable needle (however you can do the cables in this pattern without a cable needle if you wish).
- Waste yarn & Crochet hook in similar size to needles, for a provisional crochet cast on (only if you decide to use this method for the brim – see notes in the pattern for further details on the options for this section).
• Gauge – Approximately 6 sts/inch in the garter rib pattern, un-stretched and un-blocked
• Size – Child/Young Adult (Adult) finished hat circumference (unstretched) approximately 40cm /16 inches (46cm/18 inches) will fit a head circumference up to approximately 46cm/18 inches (60cm/24 inches). The sizing of the hat is rather generous in both sizes and between them will fit most sized heads comfortably.
