Ammersee Top
A simple knitted top gets an extra flourish with the addition of stranded colourwork and easy embroidery.
Issue 30 of Knit Now is on sale from 9th January, in print and digital format. It is available from newsagents, supermarkets, craft shops and www.moremags.com
The Ammersee Top is named after the third largest lake in Bavaria, the region where I currently live. Ammersee is a lovely lake surrounded by mountains, and it was the inspiration for this project. The Ammersee Top is knitted in the round from the bottom up and includes a simple fairisle motif in a contrasting color. Floral embroidery and a button placket add the finishing touches to this alpine-inspired top.
When working fairisle in the contrasting color, check that your gauge has the same amount of elasticity as the main working gauge. Work a mini-gauge swatch in the round to test out different needle sizes, and change your needle if necessary to match the gauge. This way you avoid puckering of the fairisle section.
