Plymouth Yarn Encore Worsted (75% acrylic, 25% wool; 200 yd 183 m/ 3½ oz 100 g): #0240 taupe (CC1), #0460 golden glow (CC2), #0217 black (CC3), 1 ball each; #0597 pale peach (CC4), about 1 yd .

Hook Size s E/4 (3.5 mm) and I/9 (5.5 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions Stitch markers; fiberfill; 1⁄8” black shank buttons, 2; black thread and sewing needle; quilter’s pins; yarn needle.

Gauge Head rnds 1–5 = 2¼“ in diameter with smaller hook. Gauge is not important for this project.

NOTES

• Project uses nearly entire ball of main color (MC). Consider purchasing an extra ball as insurance.

• Use smaller hook throughout unless otherwise stated.

• Head is worked in the round from the top down. The body is worked in the round from the top down, leaving holes at sides for arms, then continuing down through the torso and later seaming at crotch, leaving holes for the legs. Arms, legs, ears, and tail are worked separately in the round and stitched to the head and body. Legs include a longer extension at the top that is inserted into the body.

• Belly and tail appliqués are made separately in turned rows and stitched to body/tail. Remember to stuff work as you go. Eyes are made with tiny buttons. Nose and mouth are embroidered. Goggle straps are made in turned rows. Goggle rings are made in the round. All goggle pieces are stitched together using yarn tails. Tail shaping is achieved by working into the round (or rounds) below, which creates a tuck in the fabric.

• Space decreases and increases evenly by placing them in a different location on each round.

• Place marker at beginning of each round and move up as work progresses.
