Designer Notes: “My goal was to design a cardigan in a shade of gold that captured the look of hay fields drying in the September sun. Apparently, this gold isn’t easy to capture with dye on fiber. I found the answer in a handdyed silk yarn with just the right uneven luminosity. I added a sprinkling of gold matte beads to mimic the texture of field seeds--wheat grains, grass, and corn kernels… The beads help give the cardigan texture, but because they are sewn on after the garment is complete, you can decide whether to include them after you finish knitting.” --Michele Rose Orne
