I designed this heart-filled shawl for a dear friend who was just diagnosed with breast cancer. For the past 10 years, I donated $2 from every sale to the American Cancer Society (see my Uncle Dick’s Prayer shawl for another design where I donated money to ACS for each sale) for a total donation for this pattern of $100.
The hearts are for all the love she has for others and we have for her …
The worsted weight wool works up quickly on US#10s to create a hexagonal shaped shawl that hugs the shoulders, staying put and hugging the wearer.
Knit all in one piece, this is a shawl for those you love … or a lovely gift for yourself.
Directions are both charted and row-by-row.
The shawl measures 20-inches from neck to hem (and the length from tip to tip is approx 50-inches).
This shawl is knit all in one piece, starting with a garter tab, and finishing with a mini-heart edging.
The shawl is worked in six sections with a “spine stitch” between each section and bordered by a self-finishing garter border
