“Alba” (sunrise) is a summer top knit top-down using the contiguous method.
The sweater is knit starting from the neckline: the necessary number of stitches is cast-on and a simple, decorative border is knit.
Next the back and neckline are shaped using a series of short rows. While knitting this first section, increases are made every row, on both the right side and the wrong side of the work.
When the neckline is sufficiently shaped, the knitting continues in the round until the yoke is the right size.
Next, the front and back are separated and worked flat, separately; the single “phoney seam” shoulder stitche is transferred to a piece of waste yarn.
At this point, the underarm stitches are cast-on and knitting continues in the round to form the body. Right after the joint, decreases are added to shape the sleeves. Once this step has been completed, knitting continues in stockinettestitch until the desired length is reached.
The body is completed with another small, decorative border.
Once the body of the sweater has been completed, the stitches along the armholes are picked up and the very short sleeves are knit.
This sweater has been knit with very gradual colour-changes that create stripes. When the yarn is changed, be sure to find the colour as close as possible to the last colour of the old yarn, to ensure that the play of colours continues as established. For this reason, we suggest purchasing an extra ball of yarn.

XS (S, M, L, XL, XXL) to fit bust size 76 (86, 96, 106, 117, 127) cm – 30 (34, 38, 42, 46, 50) in.
Shown in size M with bust size 96 cm – 38 in and with 32 cm – 12 ½ in of positive ease at bust.

Yarn and needles:
KATIA Paraiso: 105 (Fingering weight yarn; 100% Cotton: 360 m – 393 yds / 100 g – 3.53 oz. ball): 3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4) balls (780 850, 930, 1030, 1150, 1250 m – 854 930, 1018, 1027, 1258, 1368 yds).
Note: the yarn suggested for this sweater created a soft striped effect with slow, gradual colour changes. To ensure that the progression of colours remains the same, when adding a new ball of yarn, start with the same colour being worked for a homogenious effect.
The yardage given refers to the amount needed to complete the sweater. However, we suggest purchasing an additional ball of yarn to achieve the correct progression of colour changes.
Naturally, if another yarn, without these characteristics is used, these notes may be ignored.
Circular needles number 3 mm – US 2 ½ with a 40 cm – 16 in, 60 cm – 24 in and 80 cm – 32 in cable. If necessary, please adjust needle size to obtain the specified gauge.
Other:
4 stitch markers.
Waste yarn.
Tapestry needle and scissors.
Pins and a tape measure for blocking.

Gauge:
25 sts and 36 rows/rounds = 10 cm – 4 in in st st (after blocking).

La maglietta estiva “Alba” è lavorata dall’alto verso il basso con lavorazione contiguous.
Si inizia la lavorazione a partire dal collo: si montano tutte le maglie necessarie e si lavora un piccolo bordo decorativo molto semplice.
In seguito il dietro e lo scollo sono modellati da una serie di ferri accorciati. Durante questa prima sezione si incominciano anche gli aumenti, che saranno ad ogni ferro, sia sul diritto del lavoro che sul rovescio.
Quando si raggiunge la forma del collo desiderata, si continua a lavorare in tondo fino a raggiungere l’ampiezza dello sprone richiesta.
A questo punto si separano il davanti e il dietro, che vengono lavorati in piano separatamente, lasciando la maglia della finta “cucitura” della spalla in sospeso su un filo di scarto.
Successivamente verranno montate le maglie per le ascelle e il lavoro proseguirà in tondo per formare il corpo. Immediatamente dopo l’unione verranno lavorate delle diminuzioni che sagomeranno le maniche. Una volta terminato questo passaggio si lavorerà a maglia rasata fino a raggiungere la lunghezza desiderata.
Si termina il corpo con un altro piccolo bordo decorativo.
Una volta terminato il corpo della maglietta, si riprendono le maglie lungo gli scalfi e si lavorano le maniche cortissime.
Per la lavorazione della maglietta è stato usato un filato che ha un effetto di righe sfumate e presenta un cambio di colore molto lento e graduale. Quando si dovrà cambiare il filo, raccomando di cercare il colore il più possibile a quello vicino all’ultimo lavorato, in modo da rispettare il più possibile il gioco di colore. Per questo motivo, si consiglia l’acquisto di un gomitolo supplementare, che potrà essere utile in questa procedura.

XS (S, M, L, XL, XXL) vestono un giroseno di 76 (86, 96, 106, 117, 127) cm.
Le foto si riferiscono alla taglia M indossata da una modella con un giroseno di 96 con un agio di 32 cm.

Attenzione: il filato adoperato per la realizzazione di questo maglione è un filato che ha un effetto di righe sfumate e presenta un cambio di colore molto lento e graduale. Quando si dovrà cambiare il filo, raccomando di cercare il colore il più possibile a quello vicino all’ultimo lavorato, in modo da rispettare il più possibile il gioco di colore.
Il metraggio riportato corrisponde all’effettivo consumo del filato, tuttavia si consiglia l’acquisto di un gomitolo supplementare, che potrà essere utile in questa procedura.
Naturalmente, se si usa un filato che non ha queste caratteristiche, queste note possono essere ignorate.
Ferri circolari numero 3 mm con cavo lungo 40 cm, 60 cm e 80 cm. Se necessario modificare il numero dei ferri per ottenere il campione corretto.
