Oh, those lovely Aztec people! They gave the world chocolate, coffee, hot peppers, and—avocado! This shawl is named “Ahuacatl,” which is the Aztec word for that most marvelous of fruits. Like an avocado, this shawl is big. It’s comforting, smooth, and—if you use the recommended colors of yarn— green. This is a slipped stitch patterned shawl available in two sizes. Both sizes feature sections of repeated stitch patterns in a variety of colors (noted in the pattern in a pale red highlight). The pattern can be worked with left-over remnants or color sets, but yarn requirements are given using the color sets available from Anzula Yarns.

Materials: Main Color: 2 skeins (Large); 1 Skein (Small). Pictured with Anzula Dreamy in the color Olivia—75% Merino, 15% Cashmere, 10% Silk. +/- 385 yds per 100g
Contrast Colors 1-8: 1 set (both sizes). Pictured with Anzula Squishy Skeinettes in the color ways Teddy, Madam, Cardamom, Rust, Arizona, Paprika, Sophia, and Terra Cotta—80% Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon. +/- 67 yds per 20g mini-skein, total +/- 536 yds per 160grams.
Needles: US size 5 (3.75mm) circular needle with at least a 32 inch (80cm) cord. longer is fine, shorter might be troublesome due to a high stitch count.
Gauge: In blocked garter stitch: 44 rows & 22 stitches per four inches or 10cm.Gauge is not crucial to this project, as long as the fabric suits your preferences for drape and comfort
Sizing: Measured after blocking. Large size shawl measures approximately 9 foot (2.75m) in length or wingspan and 3.5 foot (1m) in width or from point to long edge. Small size shawl measures approximately 5 foot (1.5m) in length or wingspan, and 2 foot (0.6m) in width or from point to long edge.
