These booties arose out of a another pattern which went wrong.

My failed swatch languished in my knitting basket until I bought and read Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Star Booties Pattern in Knit one, Knit all. These booties fold in the same way as star booties, but clearly are not in garter and are knitted in the round from the centre out.

I’ve knitted these in leftover sock yarns and mixed and matched bits of leftovers.
