Affirmative shawl
This is a happy shawl. Big, bold, cosy. It brings a smile to your face and a spring to your step when you wear it. One for those days when you want to answer a big “yes” to the eternal “why” of life.
Designed with heavier yarns in mind this shawl is simple to re-size and the body lace is easy to work with all-right side lace and knit yarn overs. To keep it interesting, it has a custom-designed knit-on border worked perpendicular to the main shawl. This unique border stitch pattern was specially created to work with the bold scale of the yarn and pattern and features patterning on both sides (but it is very easy!).
Add to this that it knits up very quickly in chunky yarn, and you will have another big tick against that knitting to do list! Mine took me only 5 days and a few of my testers were equally as fast (in fact one tester turned a super-chunky version out in 5 hours!).
The pattern has full written instructions and charts.
The grey sample by me was made using just 332 metres (363 yards) of New Lanark chunky yarn.
KerstinGermany’s elegant aran weight version used 520 metres (570 yards) of Sylvia Aran by Posh Yarn.
Soccerwidow01’s luscious, vibrantly alive, red version was worked in super chunky yarn using Brown sheep’s burly spun.
The rich yet delicate version in Mulberry DK mohair by hongkongknitter shows the effect in a lighter yarn.
The Affirmative Shawl is a traditional top-down triangle shawl. The directions provided make for a moderately large shawl. It is, however, simple to re-size, and full instructions are provided for this. It is rated as intermediate in difficulty.
