Aérien
A garment as light as air, yet as snug as a warm embrace.
This boxy fit pullover was designed to embody the delicate balance of lightness and warmth.
Knitted using a heavier weight mohair yarn, this project will practically knit itself!
Aérien is knitted from the top down, starting at the shoulders with separate knitting for the back and front. Everything is then joined in the round at the underarm, resulting in a seamless design. The sleeves are picked up and knitted in the round as well, contributing to the garment’s smooth construction.
The body features a simple Stockinette stitch, which beautifully contrasts with the lace pattern adorning the billowy balloon sleeves, adding a touch of drama to this statement piece. Aérien boasts a small, flattering mock neckline, which can easily be replaced by a crew neckline, just knitting fewer rows of the ribbing.

Tips for substituting This sweater can be knitted with all kinds of yarn! Don’t work too hard trying to find something similar to the recommended yarn: think of bulky wool blends that you may have in your stash or even better, combine multiple yarns to get the recommended gauge. Maybe 2 strands of DK and 1 of mohair?
Needles: US 10½ 6.5 mm and US 8 5 mm circular needles, 32” long. You will need a spare needle size 8 5 mm if you plan to use a tubular bind off as shown in the sample.
Other notions: Stitch holders, stitch markers, tapestry needle.
GAUGE
12.5 sts and 18 rows to 4” (10cm) in stockinette stitch with US 10½ 6.5 mm needles, after blocking.
