The abutilon is a type of plant used to treat wounds. I was inspired by its color variations and simple shape. Using a variegated yarn will result in a zigzag pattern over the chevrons, pointing in the opposite direction, which stand out attractively against the dark background yarn.

The pattern is worked in two color brioche stitch which is knitted in the round on a circular needle. I was intrigued to discover the decreases for this, which are spread out over three successive rounds. This gradual shaping lies much flatter than other brioche decreases and the decreases themselves are simpler due to being more similar to ordinary ssk and k2tog decreases. The only difference is the yarnover which is usual for brioche knitting. For the four stitch decreases in the round I could not find any mention of how to spread them over three rounds and so therefore devised my own method, or un-vented it. I have called it a brioche central double decrease (brcdd) All of these techniques have written explanations in the pattern instructions.

This pattern has been test knitted and tech edited to ensure a pleasant knitting experience.
