A Wish For Sunshine developed after rummaging through my stash and finding a gorgeous gradient mini set I had had for a while. Once I wound my yarn and started knitting, I just couldn’t put this project down. A Wish For Sunshine is worked in a DK weight with 7 mini skeins and 2 full skeins in a contrast color for the lace, stripes and border. The lace patterns occur at just the right sections (after plenty of simple garter stitch) so you aren’t bored and you have all the fun color changes to look forward to.
The gradient kit I used made me think of a bright orange sunset, the cross stitch pattern reminds me of the open sky, and the border lace pattern evokes a little bit of the sun peeking through the clouds, hence the name - A Wish For Sunshine. It is also a lyric from John Denver’s “Sunshine on My Shoulders,” which I think you’ll agree, this shawl is.
This shawl is worked flat starting at one corner and working on the bias. An asymmetric shape is created by working increases on one side of the shawl. A lace border is worked across the bottom of the shawl, then the shawl is bound off.
