A Smart Cardigan
This pattern is
available for free.
This is one of the new styles worked with coarse needles. It is 17½ inches from shoulder to waist, and has a 35-inch bust.
The stitch is elastic, and will stretch, but such a jacket is only becoming for a slim figure. Worked at a tension of six sts to the inch on No. 6 needles, it can be quickly made.
Good Needlework (London), in introducing the pattern, recommends “Golden Eagle” four-ply fingering wool (eight ounces), in saxe blue, with 1oz. of the same in darker blue, and 1oz. of white—that wool may not be obtainable here— but Wildflower sports wool will suit. A pair of long No. 6 needles will be needed, and a pair of No. 10, two spare needles, and three buttons.
